Behind a single gate in the hills above Benahavís lies one of Europe's most exclusive private estates, and by design one of the smallest. A gated estate of this class maintains its own infrastructure: roads, security, landscaping and clubhouse facilities. That means charges on a scale not comparable with an ordinary community of owners on the coast, payable whether the house is used all year or for a month. Running the property itself comes on top: garden, pool, technical maintenance, often permanent staff.
