Summer 2026 on the coast is a proper cultural marathon — global headliners next to deep local tradition. It adds up to a calendar worth tracking if you're starting to spend more time here. Below is the headline list with dates, venues and practical notes: where to park, where to eat dinner before the show, and what to book early.

Starlite Occident Marbella — the flagship

Starlite turns 15 in 2026, running from June through the end of August at Cantera de Nagüeles — a former quarry at the foot of La Concha, with an extraordinary intimate acoustic and a capacity of about 1,800. It is one of the most distinctive venues in Europe: the sandstone walls underline every sound, and the open sky over the stage makes each concert an event in itself.

The line-up includes Lenny Kravitz (29 June), Maroon 5 (7 July), Deep Purple (9 July), John Legend, Jean-Michel Jarre, Rick Astley, Gipsy Kings, Kool & The Gang, Pet Shop Boys and Andrea Bocelli. Tickets from around €49 for tribune seats to €600+ for VIP tables with dinner. It's not just concerts — gastronomy (several restaurants on site, including Nikki Beach Restaurant), VIP zones and glamour pull in audiences from all over the world.

Marenostrum Fuengirola — concerts by the sea

Open-air summer concerts are the soul of the Costa del Sol after sunset.

The second big cycle runs from spring through 12 September 2026, on the stage by Sohail Castle right next to the Mediterranean. Capacity 12,000, with the sea as backdrop. Over 100 shows in the season.

Names include Sting, Alejandro Sanz, Pablo Alborán, Aitana, Maroon 5, Lenny Kravitz, Gipsy Kings, and Romeo Santos & Prince Royce. Tickets from around €35 to €120. The Cercanías C-1 train makes it easy (Fuengirola station, 10-minute walk to Sohail), parking under the castle €8–15. Restaurants along the Paseo Marítimo serve pre-concert set menus.

    Cultural Málaga

Málaga itself is having a moment — one of the fastest-growing art centres in Europe. Squeeze in a day or evening at Museo Picasso (permanent collection plus temporary shows), Centre Pompidou Málaga (the only permanent Pompidou branch outside France), Museo Carmen Thyssen (19th-century Spanish art) and the new CAC Málaga (contemporary art).

In summer add city festivals: Terral (July, dance and classical music at Teatro Cervantes), Málaga de Cine (open-air film cycle), Festival Internacional de Jazz de Málaga (November, but worth pencilling in). Tickets in the €15–60 range.

    Cinema under the stars

    • Cine de Verano Albéniz (Málaga) — daily in July and August, classic films in Spanish with subtitles.
    • Cinema Paradiso Marbella — open-air screenings in the Old Town, in season.
    • Hotel cinema events at Puente Romano and Marbella Club — periodically, for guests and members.

    The tradition you can't ticket

Alongside the big stages, summer lives through local fiestas: the Night of San Juan (23/24 June), Virgen del Carmen (16 July) and August's Feria de Málaga. We cover those in our guide "Summer on the Costa del Sol: festivals and feasts". These events are free and informal — just turn up at the right place at the right time.

    Art, design, food

Marbella Design & Art Fair (usually September), MaCo — Marbella Contemporary Art Fair, open gallery studios in Marbella Old Town. From the kitchen side: Estepona Wine & Tapas Festival, San Pedro Gastronomic Week, and in August the Concurso de Espetos in Málaga. Marbella International Film Festival in October.

    Practical tips

    • Top concerts sell early — Lenny Kravitz sold out Starlite in 4 days in 2025; for 2026 book in January.
    • Starlite VIP zones include dinner (from about €250 per person) — a great choice if you're planning the whole evening.
    • Plan transport — parking at Starlite (€10–15) and Sohail (€8–15) gets busy. Post-show taxi from the quarry to Puerto Banús €15–20.
    • Dress code: smart casual; at Starlite a club often opens after the show until 3:00 — bring a warmer layer (the quarry cools in the evening).
    • If you're coming in from further afield, check our transport notes.
